fruit and vegetable antioxidant medley

tonight we made a fruit and vegetable antioxidant medley. we could have added more stuff, but these ingredients are what we had on hand.

- we used: two bunches of romaine lettuce, one bunch of parsley, one pack of blueberries, two apples, and some my mini-carrots. we are out of garlic, but a bit of that would have been great.

- we washed everything really well and pureed it all. then poured it into a large mixing bowl. mixed it up real good. if it's too thick, just add a little water. i think the "juicier" the mix is, the easier it is for dogs to digest all of the nutrients.

- we're going to serve it as a sidedish with meat, poultry, cottage cheese, yogurt, oats, etc.

- freeze the leftovers in small containers, and defrost as needed.

tonight, while chopping fruit & veggies, we got to test out our new wooden cutting board from Fallen Tree Designs. it's really nice, i was afraid to mess it up, but it handled my, not so excellent, chopping skills, and cleaned up real nice. isn't is beautiful? such excellent handcraftmanship!

saturday morning special

The girls are having a big dinner tonight, so they just needed a light breakfast today.
We mixed up some cottage cheese, yogurt, added a splash of safflower oil & apple cider vinegar.
Easy, yummy and healthy!

I love to store the oil & vinegar in fun recycled bottles and containers...

pyrex

As we are getting settled in, I'm noticing what a cool collection of vintage Pyrex bowls are in Mee & Dee's kitchen. Pyrex bowls are the best! They have many uses, are durable, easy to clean, are stackable and easy to store. Great for a small spaces. Also, by reusing old items we aren't being wasteful. It's one of the little ways we are trying to help to save the planet.

they make great water bowls...

these little round casserole dishes are perfect for storing frozen patties...

we use the square pyrex for storing patties and for our doggy casserole recipes...

Maybe you have been lucky enough to inherit some Pyrex pieces. If not don't despair, there are a lot available on Etsy. Just try a search for "vintage pyrex" and you will see all sorts of cool styles and colors. We sometimes have some available in our vintage shop, click here to check it out.

Here are a few available at the moment on etsy...
